Ed Cable and Simon Ayres travelled to the European Championships this weekend held at Weston Park, Shropshire. A huge congratulations to Simon on taking first place after a 7 way shoot off. Very well deserved – how you hold your nerve is unbelievable Simon!
Mark and Kathy Johnson attended the Essex Open at Springfield ARC on 14th September. An excellent day out was had there. A 40 target course set mainly in woodland had many targets high up in the trees which made for some tricky shots. A slight breeze had you wondering whether to aim off or go down the middle on the longer targets. A link to quite a few pics below will see Kathy receiving her Top Lady medal ( and the Golden Bunny!) and Mark losing the third place shoot off in A grade!
Club members — its your turn to have a say in the running of the club. A chance to tell us what we are doing wrong (or right hopefully). Committee members are to be elected / re-elected, a report on the clubs Financial position and where we are in the Great Scheme Of Things! Tea, coffee and biccies provided with a Bacon roll or two before we head to the range for the “Chairmans Challenge” shoot. Prizes for top Lady, Junior and the Other Sort (Men). Please note attendance of the AGM is mandatory to enter the Chairmans Challenge.
Date for the diary is SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER 09-30 sharp at Plantation Park sports ground, Blofield.
Another good turnout with good weather to help us. Team J wins this round which brings both teams level so its all to play for at final round 5. Top gun this time was Ian Button with an excellent 38/40. Scores are linked below with a few pics of the day.

Four of our members travelled down to Colchester to compete in the East Anglian Open organised by Iceni Marksmen ARC. Broadlands had a good showing in the placings so congratulations to Simon Ayers achieving second place in AA grade, Ed Cable gaining third place in A grade and Kathy Johnson coming second in B grade. A superb course in the woods with a tricky wind made for interesting shooting. As a side note all proceeds were donated to the charity of choice of Iceni founder member Ron Crawford who sadly passed away recently.
Lets have a good turnout for the final summer series shoot to be held on 13th September. Trophys will be awarded to the winning team at our annual dinner in February. We will be having a BBQ after the shoot so be prepared for Rogers cooking skills! Usual fare of burgers, sausages, bacon, egg and maybe some cake if you are good! Coffee and tea also available. Family members are welcome to come along and maybe have a go on the practice range if this air rifle lark is new to them. Remember — NO CHARGE its part of your membership fee.
An excellent turn out for round 2. Good weather with a slight wind just making it interesting with the 51 yard reducer causing a few upsets! Team M came through this round with some excellent shooting from our B grades so its still all to play for. Top gun was Simon Ayres with 37/40.

Yep – that dreaded phrase. We are holding a work party on the morning of Sunday 3rd of August. We have had 45 tons of soil delivered with which we are going to raise the level of some of the shooting lanes and fill some holes in around the site. Some of the lanes are sinking exposing the tree roots which makes mowing difficult – you know how you like the nice short grass! Obviously we wont shift all of the soil in one go but we will have a good try! Please turn up and lend a hand. We have a couple of wheelbarrows but a few more would be good with shovels, rakes etc. We aim to start at 0930 and finish by midday. Bring a drink — Its August and the sun will be shining! And you thought we just go and shoot down there!
