It is the Club tradition that following the AGM we take part in the annual Chairmans Challenge shoot. Nice to see everybody who took part on a superb course layed out by departing Chairman Jim Coleman and David Elvin. Targets placed in some of the trees were certainly interesting to say the least! 25mm 25 yard stander up a tree anyone? Congratulations to this years winner James Mcghee who will retain the Chairmans Challenge Shield for one year. Runners up will receive trophies at the club dinner and presentations in the new year.

Well done Midshires for a testing course and well done Colin Richardson for some top shooting again.
Club members — its your turn to have a say in the running of the club. A chance to tell us what we are doing wrong (or right hopefully). Tea, coffee and biccies provided with a Bacon roll or two before we head to the range for the “Chairmans Challenge” shoot. Please note attendance of the AGM is mandatory to enter the Chairmans Challenge.

Final round of the Summer Series today has ended in a draw with both teams scoring 169. That means the series is tied and we need to count up eliminators. It is that close once again! Results will be uploaded as soon as possible once the numbers are crunched and double checked. Top gun today was John Haylet with a superb 39/40. UPDATE – Team J wins the series after hitting more eliminator targets than Team M. Full scores are on the Summer Series Tab.
Once shooting was finished we held our annual BBQ. True to fashion the Great British Summer arrived with a thunder storm and torrential rain just as the charcoal got going! Luckily a couple of gazebos and large umbrellas were available and being true out door people we carried on regardless. Thanks must go to Pete and Paul once again for the mass catering under trying conditions. Well done chaps!
All members don’t forget its our club BBQ 9th Sept. It follows the final round of the Summer Series so please do your best to attend. Husbands, wives, friends, relatives and tax inspectors are welcome as your guest. Its the usual burgers, sausages, bacon and hopefully cake as well. Tea and coffee available also. All free of charge so come along and dont forget to bring a seat!
Sunday 27th August saw us host a visit fron the On Target club of Dereham. 6 vistors came along to experience FT shooting with us. After a brief safety induction and practice / zero session we paired up with the visitors and offered practical advice regarding aim points and Field Target technique for the knockdowns at the different ranges. A 20 target course was set out incorporating all distances and positions typically used. The weather was superb with no wind to cause further complications and it was agreed by all to have been a sucessful and enjoyable morning.
A few of us travelled to Springfield club near Chelmsford to take part in the Essex open. An excellent shoot was set out within their wooded area with a few lanes on a very open field with a tricky wind to contend with. Congratulations to Simon Ayres for taking 3rd place in AA grade with David Elvin taking 2nd place in A grade. Will look forward to next year.
Saturday 6th May is our first round of the Summer Series. We have all been placed in 2 teams this year, again captained by Jim and Mark. Details of which team you are in will be provided on Saturday. Please try to support these slightly different shoots. Trophies will be awarded to all winning team members who shoot the minimum number of rounds over the summer.
